Our Trip to Australia #1 - Introduction

Hello all!

So... about a month ago, on January the 8th, we began our 20-day trip to Australia, something we never expected would really happen. Honestly, even as we boarded our plane to Singapore in the morning, it hadn't really gotten to us that it was really happening. It was a truly wonderful trip, obviously, Australia is beautiful. Actually, the word beautiful really doesn't do the country justice. Yeah, it was a really amazing experience.

Now, I'd be the first to say that I couldn't have been able to afford the trip if we'd had to pay for everything. I mean, it's a beautiful country, but man, if you're not careful the expenses you have to pay while you are there will creep up on you and murder you in your sleep. This was, essentially, my parents' trip, and so a million thanks to them for deciding to take us along.

Anyways, now that the trip is over, I really think that there are many things that we learned while we were over there that I should share with everybody, because it really would help Indonesians who are planning to go to Australia, either for a holiday or other reasons. I mean, at one point we even got a PARKING TICKET, something that cost us precious AU$78, simply because we didn't understand how the Australian parking system works.

Which also leads to the affirmation of what we've also known all the time: the importance of mastering English. We had a lot of fun, but we ran into a couple of problems because, as I found out, my parents' English, while perfectly adequate for them to converse with Singaporeans and the occasional foreigner who came their way, wasn't quite enough to truly be able to communicate with the different people we met. We didn't really experience any major communication breakdowns, but suffice it to say that there were a couple of misunderstandings that could've been easily avoided.

So, I'm in the process of preparing a series of post chronicling (sort of) several aspects of our trip there. Keep an eye out!

For now, here are some the photos we took:
